Direct Care Staff I – Job Description
Accountability: Program Manager
Qualifications:
· Must be 18 years of age or older
· Able to communicate well verbally and in writing
· Basic computer knowledge
· Must be able to pass the Live Scan Fingerprinting.
· Able to work a flexible schedule including splits, nights, weekends, and holidays.
· Have reliable transportation.
· Complete pre-employment requirements. Physical, Drug Screen, and TB tests.
· Successfully complete PAID orientation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds and push up to 50 pounds (on wheels).
- Must be able to hear staff on the phone and those who are served in-person, speak clearly in order to communicate information to patients and staff.
- Must be able to read memos, computer screens, personnel forms and clinical and administrative documents.
- Must have high manual dexterity.
- Must be able to reach above the shoulder level to work, must be able to bend, squat and sit, stand, stoop, crouch, reach, kneel, twist/turn.
Responsibilities:
Client Services
· Assist clients in activities of daily living. Eating, bathing, toileting, dressing and personal hygiene. Complete client care.
· Provide clients with the opportunity to make choices and be independent.
· Perform Medication Passes when training is complete.
· Must become proficient in specialized procedures as needed.
· Meal Preparation

- Know the agency policies related to fire and safety and be able to carry out emergency procedures when needed. Report any maintenance problems or safety hazards to immediate supervisor.
- Know and adhere to the agency policies on Client’s Rights. Be able to interpret them to clients and/or family members. Interact with each individual, with dignity and respect and never, under any circumstances subject them to verbal, mental or physical abuse, neglect or mistreatment. Report any observation or occurrence of rights violation immediately to direct supervisor or appropriate administrative supervisor. Complete reporting requirements as a Mandated Reporter.
- Adhere to all agency policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
