Position Summary: You will work with a lead machinist to help prepare and setup the CNCs for jobs. After the program and first part have been approved to run, you will be responsible to complete the job; checking parts, monitoring the machine, and ensuring conformance to the job requirements.
We are a job shop which means production runs are short. This makes for a fast paced, active shop which requires teamwork, good communication and a great attitude.
Essential Responsibilities
- Review work orders, specifications and blueprints/drawings.
- Setup and prepare CNC to run jobs.
- Monitor and ensure material traceability.
- Verify settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces, adhering to standards.
- Produce high quality parts. Properly use inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gages, optical comparator, etc.
- Maintain equipment - complete preventive maintenance requirements; follow manufacturer's instructions; troubleshoot malfunctions; notify shop manager about repairs.
- Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
- Contribute to company goals by working safely, making high quality parts, recommend improvements to tooling and manufacturing processes, and take ownership of accomplishments and areas that need improvement.
Requirements - Job Qualifications:
- 3 years minimum experience running CNCs as an operator or junior machinist
- Knowledge of G & M code
- Experience with Haas controls is preferred
- Must be willing to work overtime weekends and work well with others
- Fit for duty in clean and presentable manner
- Willing to attend on-going training to further professional development
- Knows how to keep busy to keep jobs running efficiently and keep the shop safe
- Valid driver’s license
- High school diploma or equivalent
