Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Tax Manager to lead our tax planning, compliance, and reporting functions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in tax accounting, regulatory reporting, and financial analysis within diverse industries. The Tax Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize tax efficiencies while maintaining compliance with GAAP, SOX, and other regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies, including estate planning, corporate accounting, and tax accounting practices.
- Oversee preparation and review of federal, state, and local tax returns ensuring accuracy and compliance with current laws.
- Manage audits related to tax filings and coordinate with external auditors on financial report interpretation and regulatory reporting.
- Ensure adherence to SOX compliance requirements and maintain internal controls related to tax processes.
- Lead the analysis of financial statements, balance sheet reconciliation, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliation activities.
- Monitor changes in securities law, LIHTC regulations, and other relevant legal frameworks affecting taxation.
- Provide guidance on mergers & acquisitions, private equity transactions, and asset management from a tax perspective.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other financial software for bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial statement preparation.
- Conduct financial analysis to support budgeting, financial planning, investment decisions, and sales strategies.
- Prepare detailed financial reports including analysis of debits & credits, accounts payable/receivable management, and asset management reports.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of non-profit accounting standards if applicable.
- Collaborate with legal teams on wills, trusts & estate law as it pertains to estate planning initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or EA certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in public accounting or corporate tax roles with a strong background in tax experience including GAAP compliance.
- Proven expertise in technical accounting areas such as auditing, regulatory reporting, general ledger reconciliation, and financial statement interpretation.
- Familiarity with accounting software including QuickBooks Online, Xero, and other financial tools; proficiency in financial software is essential.
- Strong understanding of securities law, LIHTC regulations, Mergers & Acquisitions processes, private equity structures, and non-profit accounting standards is a plus.
- Excellent analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial concepts and perform detailed account analysis.
- Knowledge of double entry bookkeeping principles such as debits & credits; experience with budgeting and financial planning is desirable.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively while maintaining attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
