MGS has an exciting opportunity for a Shift Supervisor Assistant to join our MGS Richfield Manufacturing team. This is a 12-hour day or night shift role on the 2-2-3 rotation schedule. It will train on an 8 hour day shift and then transition to the 12 hour day or night shift.
As a Shift Supervisor Assistant at MGS, you will be responsible for supervising through strategic planning to ensure the highest level of Safety, Quality, and Efficiency are being met on the assigned shift.
Below are additional duties and responsibilities:
- Schedules Operators to specific jobs and pack out areas based on the production schedule ensuring coverage during operator breaks and reallocation of operators. Ensures employees are ready to begin work on time at the beginning of the shift and break times.

Verifies and monitors shift to ensure Operators understand their responsibilities and are following the requirements of the QMS to ensure quality standards are being met.

Mentors and develops direct labor positions ensuring training effectiveness and supports Operator Onboarding.

Verifies training needs are completed for the direct labor team and assists the Shift Supervisor with the completion of any training needs for the assigned shift.

Observes, communicates, and enforces Company policies, procedures, and safety regulations. Ensure safety remains the team's top priority.

Holds direct labor team accountable to job requirements and expectations, addressing issues that may arise, and partners with Shift Supervisor and Human Resources on Performance Incident Reports.

Completes annual Performance Evaluations for direct labor team along with the Shift Supervisor and participate in the one-on-one Performance Evaluation meetings.

Completes time and attendance activities for assigned team accurately and coordinates with the Shift Supervisor to resolve any issues.

Manages time off requests to ensure adequate staffing and stays within the allowed number of employees off at one time.

Completes the required Leader Standard Work (LSW) each scheduled workday.

Completes audit walks to confirm production floor is operating safely and to standards and complete any action item(s) as assigned.

Participates in Pre-Shift Huddles and lead them when required.

Utilizes IQMS and relevant modules to monitor production and ensure work processes are completed accurately and effectively.

Oversees and assists, as needed, with Work Order Changes.

Assists the Shift Supervisor with reports relating to LSW and coaching.

Communicate with shift employees and help them meet company expectations and to implement continuous improvement activities.

Assists with investigating root cause of non-conforming parts and develops an action plan.

Assists with any Significant Events that require activity such as:

A mold/ tool being idle for more than 15 minutes unassigned.

A quality issue requiring an NCMR/ MRB.

A mold/ tool issue during production requiring the mold/ tool to be removed from the press.

An equipment issue that caused parts being manufactured not meeting specification.

Promotes team building by interacting with every one of the shift.

Ability to handle conflict, and to address conflict in a profession and productive manner.

Ability to keep confidential information confidential.

Fill in for the Shift Supervisor when they have approved time off

Any other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skills:
A qualified Shift Supervisor Assistant candidate would fulfill these requirements:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required. Completion or enrollment of an accredited two-year technical college program, or a four-year university program, in a related field of study is preferred.

One to three years of related experience and/or training; or accrued on-the-job training and experience.
- Manufacturing experience is a plus.

Experience working with various computer programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, IQMS.

Demonstrated people management experience is a plus.

Strong communication and organizational skills.
-
Demonstrated experience in operating and maintaining machinery, with full responsibility for output quality, efficiency, and adherence to production goals.

Understanding of Molding defects is a plus.

Ability to read and understand production reports.

Strong sense of responsibility and proven track record of dependability and completing tasks reliably.
