A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking an experienced Shift Supervisor to support the day-to-day operations of a family shelter in Brooklyn.

Hours: 8am to 4pm

Setting: Transitional Family Shelter
Responsibilities:

Supervise front desk operations and security personnel during the assigned shift

Serve as the primary onsite point of contact when program administration is unavailable

Assist residents with signing in and out and respond to requests for support
-
Assess and respond to incidents, emergencies, and facility concerns
-
Contact NYPD, EMS, and/or other first responders when appropriate
-
Ensure required rounds, safety procedures, logbook entries, bed checks, and other operational responsibilities are completed

Resolve conflicts involving residents or staff in a professional and solution-focused manner

Monitor staffing coverage and remain onsite until properly relieved

Ensure medications, valuables, and security equipment are properly maintained and secured

Support operations across eight separate four-story walk-up buildings
Qualifications:
-
2+ years of relevant experience
-
High School Diploma / GED
-
Previous experience working in a shelter environment

Previous supervisory experience
-
Working knowledge of DHS CARES
-
Experience overseeing front desk, security, residential, and/or facility operations

Strong communication, documentation, conflict-resolution, and decision-making skills
-
Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during emergencies

Ability to walk between multiple buildings and access units located on upper floors without elevators
