Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Aide to provide exceptional support and care to residents in Anderson, SC (Pelzer/ Honea Path). The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse needs, including those with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's, or requiring hospice or home health care. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, ensuring their safety, and fostering a respectful and nurturing environment. The Personal Care Aide will work closely with healthcare professionals to deliver personalized care plans and promote independence.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment such as Hoyer lifts when necessary.
- Monitor residents' health status by observing patient conditions, recording vital signs, and reporting changes to healthcare team members promptly.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with medication administration following HIPAA regulations and care plans.
- Prepare nutritious meals in accordance with dietary guidelines, ensuring proper meal presentation and sanitation standards.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties such as cleaning resident areas and ensuring infection control protocols are followed.
- Support residents' emotional well-being through compassionate interaction, engaging in social activities, and providing companionship tailored to individual needs.
- Collaborate with team members to develop and implement personalized care plans that address each resident’s unique requirements, including memory care or autism support as needed.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, vital signs monitoring, and basic nursing skills such as CPR and first aid certification.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or autism spectrum disorder is preferred.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and assist residents with mobility using appropriate equipment like Hoyer lifts or resident’s <PERSON>.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure confidentiality and privacy of patient information.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with patience, empathy, and a respectful approach to caregiving.
- Valid certifications in CPR and first aid are required; additional certifications in hospice or home health care are advantageous.
