Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support using equipment like Hoyer lifts and ensuring dignity and comfort.
- Monitor patient health by observing vital signs, reporting changes, and maintaining accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Administer medications safely following medical instructions and document medication administration in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Provide specialized care for clients with dementia, Alzheimer’s disease, or other memory-related conditions through tailored memory and dementia care techniques.
- Support patients with complex needs including catheter care, hospice care, and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities.
- Prepare nutritious meals and assist with light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning and laundry to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly in medical records while adhering to privacy standards; communicate effectively with healthcare teams regarding patient status.
Skills
- Strong patient observation skills to detect changes in condition promptly and accurately.
- Experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems for medical documentation and record keeping.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, medication protocols, and procedures such as CPR certification.
- Ability to operate medical equipment including Hoyer lifts, vital sign monitors, and other assistive devices safely.
- Compassionate caregiver with experience supporting individuals with disabilities or chronic conditions like dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
- Excellent communication skills to coordinate care plans effectively while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
- Capable of performing light housekeeping duties including cleaning, meal preparation, and laundry to ensure a clean living space for clients.
