Showroom Design Consultant
Foster Flooring | Rhinebeck, NY | Full-Time | Mid-Level
About Us
Foster Flooring has served the Dutchess County community since 1976. As a locally owned flooring company, we take pride in helping homeowners, designers, and contractors find the perfect flooring solution — from hardwood and engineered wood to carpet and luxury vinyl. Our new Rhinebeck showroom is the heart of the client experience, and we're looking for a talented design consultant to help bring it to life.
The Role
As a Showroom Design Consultant, you'll be the primary point of contact for clients visiting our showroom. You'll guide them through our product offerings, understand their design vision, and recommend flooring solutions that fit their space, lifestyle, and budget. This is a client-facing, consultative sales role that blends design sensibility with product expertise.
What You’ll Do
- Welcome and engage walk-in clients, trade professionals, and referrals in the showroom
- Conduct in-depth consultations to understand project scope, aesthetic preferences, and budget
- Curate product recommendations from our full range of flooring brands and collections
- Prepare quotes, samples, and specification sheets for residential and commercial projects
- Build and maintain relationships with interior designers, architects, contractors, and builders in the Hudson Valley area
- Collaborate with the installation and operations team to ensure a seamless client experience from selection through completion
- Keep the showroom floor merchandised, organized, and current with new product arrivals
- Stay informed on flooring trends, materials, and manufacturer offerings
What We’re Looking For
- 2–5 years of experience in interior design, showroom sales, or a related design/home furnishings field
- A strong eye for design and an ability to translate a client’s vision into tangible product selections
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple projects and client relationships simultaneously
- Familiarity with flooring products is a plus, but not required — we’ll train the right person
- Proficiency with basic sales or CRM tools; experience with design software (e.g., CAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar) is a bonus
- A genuine connection to the Hudson Valley community and its design sensibility
Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary plus commission
- Paid time off
- Ongoing product and industry training
- A collaborative, locally rooted work environment
