Job Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated Contract Appellate Attorney to join our dynamic legal team in California. This role offers an exciting opportunity to handle appellate cases across diverse legal fields, including estate planning, environmental law, immigration law, family law, securities law, and more. The ideal candidate will bring strong litigation skills, extensive legal research expertise, and a passion for advocating on behalf of clients at the appellate level.
Duties
- Draft, review, and file appellate briefs, motions, and other legal documents with precision and clarity
- Conduct comprehensive legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other research tools to support appellate strategies
- Analyze trial court records and develop compelling arguments for appellate courts across various jurisdictions in California
- Collaborate with attorneys and clients to formulate effective appellate strategies aligned with case goals
- Manage multiple cases efficiently while adhering to deadlines and maintaining meticulous case documentation
- Participate in oral arguments before appellate courts when required
- Stay current on evolving case law, statutes, and regulations relevant to appellate practice
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and active California bar membership
- Demonstrated experience in litigation with a focus on appellate work across multiple practice areas such as estate planning, environmental law, family law, securities law, workers' compensation law, personal injury law, tribal law & regulations, patent law, landlord-tenant law, immigration law, or related fields
- Strong legal research skills utilizing Westlaw and LexisNexis platforms
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft clear, persuasive legal arguments and detailed legal drafts
- Proven negotiation skills and the ability to advocate effectively in complex legal settings
- Legal administrative experience managing case files and maintaining organized records
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing appellate procedures in California
