Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and talented part-time Organist (approximately 15-20 hours per week). In this vital role, you will provide musical accompaniment for worship services, special events, and community gatherings. Your artistry and dedication will help create a welcoming atmosphere that uplifts and unites our congregation through the power of music.
Responsibilities
- Provide music at the regularly scheduled Sunday morning worship services.
- Provide music for special services throughout the year, including Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter sunrise services, and Christmas Eve.
- Provide music for funerals and weddings or when requested.
- Rehearse weekly with the Chancel Choir and additional extra rehearsals for special events, soloists or other instrumentalists.
- Collaborate with clergy and choir director to select appropriate repertoire that aligns with service themes and occasions
- Oversee the tuning and maintenance of the organ.
Skills
- Proven experience as an organist or similar musical performer with a strong command of organ playing techniques
- Knowledge of church music traditions across various genres and styles
- Ability to read sheet music fluently and adapt quickly to different musical arrangements
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with clergy, choir director and choir members
- Passionate about using music as a means of community engagement and spiritual expression
