What is the Boys & Girls Club?
As “The Positive Place For Kids” we provide guidance-oriented character development programs for children 6 to 17 years old conducted by a professional staff. Our mission is to nurture self-esteem and growth by instilling a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence, and competence in every child. Through interactive programs and activities, we empower young people to develop self-confidence and reach their full potential.
The Before & After School Site Lead manages overall daily operations of the Club site. Responsible for supervision of site staff including Youth Development Professionals and volunteers providing an outcome-driven Club experience. Responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of the Club and organizational programs, activities and services that prepare youth for success. Responsible for ensuring a healthy and safe environment, ensuring facilities, equipment, and supplies are managed and maintained.
This role is essential in supporting the Club’s three core focus areas:
- Academic Success
- Healthy Lifestyles
- Good Character & Citizenship
During the school year this role will primarily work weekdays, 6am - 8am and 2pm- 6pm.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare Youth for Success:
- Foster a positive environment that encourages growth and confidence.
- Promote and encourage program participation.
- Serve as a role model and mentor to youth members.
Program Development & Implementation:
- Plan, lead, and supervise engaging activities for members.
- Ensure a safe and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Monitor and evaluate programs to maintain high-quality experiences.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of program spaces.
What We’re Looking For
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a managerial role in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization required.
- Minimum of three years experience working with children or youth development.
- Advanced knowledge of some of the following: child and adolescent development, behavior management techniques, principles of effective youth development programming from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
- Ability to supervise personnel and manage facilities.
- Ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
- Ability to deal effectively with Club members including discipline problems.
- Working knowledge of budget preparation, management, and control.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide youth.
- Ability to plan and implement creative, quality programs.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to supervise members and create a safe, positive environment.
- Valid driver’s license or willingness to obtain one.
- CPR and First Aid certifications or ability to obtain certifications.
- Must pass a background check.
- Applicants must be 18 years or older.
