We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Temporary Middle School Math (Grade 8) and Science Teacher (Grades 6-8) for the period of September through December 2026. This role is a wonderful opportunity to teach and invest in students during an important academic and developmental season in a Christ-centered school environment. The ideal candidate will bring enthusiasm for teaching, strong content knowledge, and a heart for helping students grow both academically and spiritually. You will be responsible for delivering engaging, standards-based instruction while building a classroom culture rooted in biblical values, encouragement, and respect.
Responsibilities
- Plan and teach engaging lessons in 8th Grade Math (including pre-algebra/algebra readiness concepts) and Middle School Science in alignment with curriculum standards and a Christian worldview.
- Integrate faith into learning in age-appropriate ways that help students see God’s design in mathematics, science, and creation.
- Create a positive, structured, and Christ-centered classroom environment that supports learning and character development.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet diverse learning needs and keep students actively engaged.
- Assess student understanding through quizzes, tests, projects, labs, and classwork; provide timely and meaningful feedback.
- Manage classroom behavior using clear expectations, grace, consistency, and biblically grounded discipline approaches.
- Incorporate hands-on science activities and real-world math applications to deepen student understanding.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support curriculum goals and school-wide initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, lesson plans, and student progress in accordance with school policies.
Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of middle school mathematics, especially Grade 8 concepts such as pre-algebra, algebra readiness, equations, ratios, proportions, and problem-solving.
- Strong understanding of middle school science, including earth science, physical science, life science, and introductory lab skills.
- Ability to teach in a way that is clear, engaging, and accessible to middle school learners.
- Experience with classroom management that promotes respect, responsibility, and Christ-like character.
- Ability to integrate educational technology to enhance instruction and student engagement.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in private school or Christian school settings is preferred but not required.
- A heart for Christian education and a desire to mentor students academically and spiritually.
Pay: $30,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
