JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: Payroll/Benefits Clerk
JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt, Part-time
NUMBER OF HOURS PER WEEK: 29 hours per week, 12 months
GRADE/RATE OF PAY: Grade 3, (starting at $15.16 hour)
LOCATION: Main Office
SUPERVISOR: Director of Finance and Risk Management
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: The Payroll/Benefits Clerk performs a variety of financial tasks, including managing and updating records, processing invoices, preparing and processing payroll, receivables payables, and interacting with employees to resolve any problems. This individual will assist with the administration of all benefits including medical, dental, life, pension, and other ancillary benefits.
The Payroll/Benefits Clerk implements, maintains, and reviews payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions. Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum of Associate’s Degree in Accounting, Business Admin, or related field required.
A minimum of three years of payroll processing experience required. Fund accounting experience preferred.
Proficient with payroll software. GMS accounting experience a plus.
One year experience in benefits administration preferred.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Good computer skills, with proficiency in Word and Excel.
PRIOR TO HIRE: Must submit to fingerprint check, Sex Offender check, complete a Sworn Disclosure and Child Protective Services check, get TB Screening, submit to drug/alcohol testing, and reference checks. If you are a currently employee, you will already have these background checks done.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to lift and carry a minimum number of 25 pounds. This position requires bending, lifting, walking, talking, seeing, sitting, speaking, and hearing.
