Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Heavy Equipment Mechanic to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of light/heavy construction and material handling equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety. Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics on equipment including excavators, cranes, bulldozers, forklifts, and other construction machinery using OEM schematics and electrical systems analysis.
- Conduct repairs on diesel engines, hydraulics, air brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components to restore equipment functionality.
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, and equipment lubrication.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues utilizing hand tools, power tools, schematics, and automotive diagnostics to identify root causes efficiently.
- Assist in heavy equipment operation when required for testing repairs or conducting inspections on-site.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Diesel Equipment Mechanic required.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of construction machinery maintenance including excavators, tractors, forklifts, and other machinery.
- Proficiency in electrical diagnostics, automotive repair techniques, hydraulic systems troubleshooting, and diesel engine repair.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for complex systems such as HVAC, electrical systems, hydraulics, and exhaust systems.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, and other maintenance tools necessary for heavy equipment servicing.
- Experience with equipment troubleshooting across various brands including Caterpillar or OEM-specific machinery is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills combined with a customer service mindset to support internal teams effectively.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and operate heavy equipment when necessary for testing or repairs.

Sunstate Fleetworks* is a small business offering growth opportunities for an experienced diesel mechanic. We are a mobile repair company contracted with construction companies big and small. Our shop location is based out of the Oviedo, FL area, looking to hire an employee to take care of service calls in the Lakeland/Tampa/Plant City area.
Monitored and Dash Cam equipped company vehicle will be provided, and all applicants are subject to a criminal background check, drivers report, and drug-screening.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
