Duties
- Stock shelves efficiently by organizing products, ensuring accurate placement, and maintaining attractive displays to enhance the shopping environment
- Operate cash registers and POS (Point of Sale) systems accurately for retail sales transactions, including processing payments and issuing receipts
- Provide exceptional customer service by greeting shoppers, answering questions, and assisting with product inquiries or locating items
- Conduct product demos when applicable to educate customers about features and benefits, encouraging engagement and sales
- Handle cash drawer operations with integrity, including cash handling, balancing registers, and managing cash register operations with precision
- Support merchandising efforts by restocking shelves, arranging products attractively, and ensuring inventory levels are maintained
- Assist in inventory management through stocking duties and participating in periodic stock counts to ensure stock accuracy and availability
Skills
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage positively with customers and team members in a bilingual environment if applicable
- Proven experience in retail sales, cashiering, or grocery store operations with knowledge of retail math for accurate transactions and cash handling
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash register operations to ensure smooth checkout processes
- Demonstrated supervising experience or leadership skills to oversee stocking activities or assist team members as needed
- Ability to perform basic math calculations quickly and accurately for retail math tasks such as making change or totaling sales
- Excellent phone etiquette for handling customer inquiries over the phone professionally
- Knowledge of retail store product knowledge, merchandising techniques, and upselling strategies to maximize sales opportunities
- Experience in grocery stores or similar retail environments preferred; familiarity with product demos and customer service best practices is a plus
