Employment & Training Specialist - Fond du Lac/Oshkosh
Provide direct services with low-income job seekers in our three-county area in Wisconsin, including: pre-employment assessment, job training, job application assistance, interview preparation, access to job opportunities, and job retention support. Identify barriers within and external to ADVOCAP that hinder our participants from accessing current employment and training opportunities. Propose workforce development opportunities that ADVOCAP could create to address gaps or enhancements in services. Represent ADVOCAP in the community; advocate for participants; understand and actualize ADVOCAP mission and corporate values.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide access to skills enhancement, education, training, and job opportunities that will assist low-income individuals in navigating their journey to self-sufficiency.
- Maintain participant records including demographics, job support information, training received, jobs applied for, jobs attained, and results of interactions with employers.
- Work closely with case managers in creating an environment for participant success.
- Create employment and training connections that will result in increased earnings for ADVOCAP participants in homeless prevention programs and the Opportunity Center.
- Strengthen partnerships with organizations such as Forward Services, Job Center, Veteran Services, DVR, and technical colleges to benefit job seeker outcomes.
- Implement job clubs, group training, mock interviewing, and other methods to improve job placement outcomes.
Job Requirements:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience/training in Business, Human Resources, Human Services, or a related field.
- Knowledge of employment and training programs and employer’s workforce needs.
- Knowledge of poverty, trauma-informed care, and barriers to self-sufficiency is essential.
- Demonstrated non-judgmental approach to serving diverse populations.
- Strategic thinker with good planning and goal-setting skills.
- Ability to develop rapport and trust with population served and the employer community.
- Reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
- Acceptable drug screen and comprehensive background check.
Salary and Benefits:
Full-time, 36-hour workweek position with an entry hourly wage of $21.99. ADVOCAP has an excellent benefit package. This full-time position will have access to health, dental, vision, life, short- and long-term disability, vacation, sick and holiday pay, and our employer-contribution 401k.
