Farmers Market Sales Associate – Beef, Lamb & Chicken

Job Summary:
The Farmers Market Sales Associate is responsible for preparing products for market, transporting them safely, setting up and operating the market booth, providing excellent customer service, and returning inventory and equipment to the farm after each market. This role requires reliability, organization, and the ability to represent the farm in a professional and friendly manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Pack coolers with beef, lamb, and chicken products according to inventory lists while maintaining proper food safety and temperature standards.
- Load coolers, tents, tables, displays, signage, and other market equipment onto the farm vehicle.
- Drive safely to and from farmers markets using a farm vehicle.
- Set up the market booth, including tents, tables, product displays, pricing signs, and promotional materials.
- Maintain attractive, organized product displays while ensuring products remain at safe temperatures throughout the market.
- Welcome customers, answer questions about farm products, production practices, and cooking recommendations.
- Process customer purchases using cash, credit card, and electronic payment systems.
- Accurately handle cash, reconcile sales, and complete end-of-day sales records.
- Monitor inventory throughout the market and restock products as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional market booth.
- Break down the market booth at the end of the day, pack all equipment and remaining products, and load the vehicle.
- Return to the farm and unload coolers, equipment, and unsold inventory.
- Properly store remaining products and unpack supplies according to farm procedures.
- Clean coolers, tables, and equipment as needed to prepare for future markets.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and market regulations.
- Represent the farm with professionalism and provide exceptional customer service.
Qualifications:
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds repeatedly.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Dependable, organized, and self-motivated.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and experience handling cash and point-of-sale systems preferred.
- Knowledge of meat products, farming, or cooking is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent lifting, carrying, bending, standing, and walking.
- Ability to load and unload coolers and market equipment.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during market hours.
- Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required by the market schedule.
This position plays a key role in connecting customers with high-quality farm-raised beef, lamb, and chicken while ensuring products are transported, displayed, and sold safely and professionally.
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
