About This Role
The Teacher Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the lead teacher and the Director in creating a nurturing environment for the children, while contributing to the development of a high-quality educational program. The position requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling the individual to effectively work with staff, children, and parents in a team-oriented setting. As a valued member of the team, the Teacher Assistant observes and documents children's interests and progress, providing regular updates to parents and staff. By implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children's needs and interests, the Teacher Assistant helps to promote a positive and engaging learning environment.
What You'll Do

Support the lead teacher in designing and implementing curricula activities that foster children's participation and engagement.

Take an active role in managing the classroom environment, ensuring the availability and maintenance of materials and supplies.

Maintain regular communication with parents through informal discussions and written progress reports.

Model good hygiene and self-help practices to promote healthy habits in children.

Help facilitate a smooth transition for children between home and the child care center.

Adhere to all center policies and state regulations.

Develop a personal professional development plan to stay up-to-date on best practices and improve overall quality.
Requirements

Must have completed 45 DCF Training hours

Strong oral and written communication skills, as well as basic computer skills.

Able to work at a high energy level, collaborate effectively with others, and foster a team environment.

Possess Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification.

Clear a full background check and pass a health screening.
-
Physically able to take frequent walks, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools or controls, talk to and hear voices at various levels. May also be required to kneel, bend, squat or crawl.

Demonstrate excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is highly desirable.
