Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Patient Transport Driver specializing in Behavioral Health to join our compassionate healthcare team. Duties
- Safely operate various vehicles including shuttle buses and vans to transport patients between facilities, appointments, and community locations
- Assist patients with boarding, exiting, and securing themselves comfortably during transit, demonstrating sensitivity to their needs
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure safety and compliance with transportation regulations
- Communicate effectively with healthcare staff, patients, and dispatchers to coordinate timely pickups and drop-offs
- Handle heavy lifting when necessary to assist patients with mobility challenges or transport equipment safely
- Maintain accurate logs of trips, patient information, and vehicle condition reports
- Ensure adherence to all safety protocols, traffic laws, and confidentiality standards during transportation activities
Experience
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, shuttle driver, bus driver, or in a similar commercial driving role with a focus on passenger safety and customer service
- Familiarity with paratransit services or heavy lifting tasks related to patient transport is preferred
- Valid driver’s license appropriate for the vehicle type (e.g., <PERSON> driver license or commercial driver’s license) with a clean driving record
- Experience operating various vehicles such as limousines, school buses, or heavy-duty vans is advantageous
- Strong communication skills to interact professionally with patients and healthcare staff
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance basics and safety procedures related to transportation services
