Job Title: Pipefitter
Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Pipefitter to assemble, install, and maintain piping systems constructed from carbon steel, galvanized steel, copper, copper-nickel, and stainless steel. This role requires the ability to interpret detailed drawings, blueprints, and schematics, as well as properly install valves and fittings. Candidates must be comfortable working at various heights, in confined spaces, and in varying weather conditions. Multiple shifts are available to support 24-hour operations.
Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum of three (3) years of relevant pipefitting experience

Successful completion of both a written examination and a hands-on practical test
*
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, take-off charts, and tape measures
*
Proficiency in basic math, including fractions, feet/inches, and metric conversions
*
Working knowledge of pipefitting formulas, including offset calculations using a 1.4142 factor
*
Understanding of fluid flow direction for various valve types (e.g., globe valves, check valves)
*
Ability to calculate cut lengths based on center-to-center dimensions and fitting allowances
Hands-On Practical Test
The hands-on portion evaluates candidates across approximately 15 performance criteria.
Assessment Includes:
- Proper setup and safety practices
- Accurate measurements and cut lengths
- Correct offset calculations
- Proper fitting and component selection (valves, hangers, etc.)
- Build accuracy and alignment
- Ensuring pipe is square and properly seated
- Completing the task within the allotted time
Additional Notes:
- Some items are graded with partial credit; others are all-or-nothing
- Attention to detail is critical — accuracy matters just as much as completion
- Strong math skills are essential for success on the test
Compensation

Base Pay: $48.00 per hour
Per Diem:

$22.50 per hour, paid hourly

Must work a minimum of 2 hours per day to qualify

Paid for up to 8 hours per day

Maximum per diem: $180.00 per day
Overtime:

Time and a half after 40 hours

Double time on Sundays

Guaranteed minimum of 40 hours per week
Shifts Available

Day Shift: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM
*
Evening Shift: 2:30 PM – 11:00 PM
Overtime opportunities are available based on operational needs. Foremen will provide sign-up sheets for employees interested in volunteering for additional hours.
Hiring Process
Step 1: Hands-On Testing
Candidates will complete the practical test on-site. Results are typically communicated the same day. Successful candidates (1st Class) will proceed to Human Resources for a Hearing Function Test (HFT) and respirator fit test.
Step 2: Drug Screening
HFT results are generally returned within 3–5 business days. If THC is the only substance identified, candidates may be eligible for a follow-up mouth swab test.
Step 3: Background Check
Upon successful completion of drug screening, a background check will be initiated. Processing time is typically 5–7 business days, though timelines may extend for candidates with extensive out-of-state work history. Once cleared, candidates will be scheduled for orientation, held on Mondays or Wednesdays.
