Duties
- Perform comprehensive dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical histories, and evaluating oral health status
- Assist with dental procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and patient comfort
- Capture and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays, ensuring proper technique and safety protocols
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health
- Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) using systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Support infection prevention management by adhering to aseptic techniques and sterilization protocols for all dental equipment and tools
Experience
- Proven experience as a Dental Hygienist in a busy dental office or clinic setting
- Proficiency with EHR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for documentation review and medical coding
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and general dentistry procedures
- Familiarity with pediatric dentistry practices and working with pediatric patients is a plus
- Hands-on experience with dental equipment operation, X-ray procedures, and chairside assisting techniques
- Understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including HIPAA compliance management
- Excellent patient care skills with the ability to communicate effectively and build rapport with diverse patient populations
