Position overview
The Plant Maintenance Manager is responsible for maintaining the plant equipment in the best achievable operable condition to, minimizing lost time, and being prepared for emergency repairs. He/she must conduct regulatory and departmental inspections to the plant; report results and prepares work assignments to his/her subordinates. He / she must supervise equipment repairs, and enforce critical control point checks that will affect personnel, and product quality and safety. In addition: Responsible for managing maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, and machine and electrical servicing for the organization's facilities.
Position responsibilities/accountabilities:
- Maintains and repairs production and building related maintenance equipment.
- Prepares reports, analyzes data, and makes recommendations for improving plant.
- Supervises plant maintenance personnel.
- (LOTO) Lock out and tag any unsafe equipment
- Ensures that all maintenance mechanics are adequately trained, equipped, and motivated so that the maintenance program can be accomplished in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
- Communicates regularly with all maintenance, both individually and as a group, to ensure good two-way communication concerning maintenance issues.
· Proactively partners with the maintenance, production and sanitation personnel in the proper operation, cleaning and caring of plant equipment and systems.
- Participate in annual Alarm testing
- Assist in Emergency Activities
- Respond immediately to fire alarm systems
- Disengage electrical, water or gas systems as required
- Ensures that all mechanics/assistants are trained on the most updated version of the operating procedures.
- Monitors operation of building related equipment and systems.
- Reviews the operation of production/building equipment and systems constantly, to minimize unplanned downtime, anticipate solve problems in a timely manner, and to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Conduct periodic inspections of building and equipment and perform Preventive Maintenance (checking, adjusting, and repair) of all mechanical and architectural systems
- Initiates and carries out projects that improve efficiency and/or reduce operating costs.
- Maintains the spare parts inventory for plant by check out part from parts cage, restocking inventory.
- Tracks, analyzes and improves key maintenance parameters such as asset utilization, maintenance cost, PM compliance, schedule compliance, etc.
- Maintains safety, health, and environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensures city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to the maintenance department are met at all times.
· Maintaining a safe and clean working environment by enforcing compliance with all applicable procedures, GMP’S, HACCP: Ensuring the American Jerky Company, LLC rules and regulations are met.
· Possesses a working knowledge of the following equipment:
o MIG/TIG welding equipment
o Arc welding equipment
o Gas and Plasma cutting equipment
o Power tools such as drill presses, cut off saws, lathes, mills and portable power hand tools.
o Electrical test equipment such as voltmeter, megger, ammeter, diode and SCR tester.
o Logic and part knowledge on electrical, mechanical and plumbing
· Works in a team effort with Maintenance Mechanics/ Mechanic assistants/Contractors /production employees to work on production machines, repairs and breakdowns (Troubleshoot).
· Complying with and having thorough knowledge of all American Jerky Company, LLC product quality standards, policies and procedures.
· Contributing and encouraging contribution to the American Jerky Company, LLC team effort.
Physical Demands
§ Exerting up to 25 lbs. of force occasionally and up to 50-100 lbs. of force rarely, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
§ The employee must be able to walk the production lines frequently
Work environment
§ The noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
§ Hot, cold and wet environmental conditions
§ Ability to work carefully around food processing, baking and tumblers/mixing machines including conveyor belts, fans, ovens.
§ Hazard: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
qualifications/abilities
· Leadership and supervisory experience.
· Ability to manage and coordinate work of 10+ maintenance employees and tailor their schedule to plant operation.
· 5 plus years of experience in industrial maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
· 3-phase, 230VAC and 480VAC circuits: circuit protection, motor starters, AC and DC drives servos. Low voltage control circuits: PLC I/), proximity switches, photo-eyes, capacitive sensors, conductivity sensors, mechanical and solid state relays, encoders, transducers.
· Welding and machine fabrication with a strong mechanical background.
· Technical certification in any of the aforementioned is desired.

Pay: $120,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
