Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled CT (Computed Tomography) Technician to join our healthcare team. The CT Tech will be responsible for performing advanced diagnostic imaging procedures using computed tomography equipment to assist in accurate diagnosis and treatment planning. This role requires a thorough understanding of medical imaging techniques, anatomy, and physiology, as well as the ability to collaborate effectively with medical staff in high-pressure environments. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of diagnostic radiology, emergency medicine, and specialized imaging modalities such as PET scans, mammography, DEXA scans, and sonography.
Responsibilities
- Operate CT scanners to produce high-quality diagnostic images in accordance with physician orders and safety protocols.
- Prepare patients for imaging procedures by explaining the process, ensuring proper positioning, and maintaining patient comfort.
- Apply aseptic techniques when necessary, especially during procedures requiring sterile environments.
- Assist with complex imaging modalities including PET scans, mammography, DEXA scans, and sonography.
- Collaborate with emergency room staff and participate in urgent care scenarios, providing rapid diagnostic imaging for trauma or critical cases.
- Maintain detailed records of procedures performed and ensure images are accurately labeled and stored in the medical record system.
- Monitor patient vital signs and physiological responses during procedures, especially in high-acuity settings such as Level I Trauma Centers.
- Ensure compliance with radiation safety standards and proper equipment calibration.
- Support diagnostic evaluation by providing clear images that facilitate accurate interpretation by radiologists.
- Keep abreast of advancements in medical imaging technology and techniques to enhance service quality.
Skills
- Extensive knowledge of nuclear medicine, PET scans, mammography, DEXA scans, and other advanced imaging modalities.
- Proven experience working in emergency room settings or Level I trauma centers.
- Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology relevant to diagnostic radiology.
- Proficiency in operating X-ray equipment and performing sonography procedures.
- Familiarity with urgent care workflows and emergency medicine protocols.
- Ability to maintain aseptic technique during invasive or sterile procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Knowledge of diagnostic evaluation processes and the ability to interpret complex imaging data.
- Experience with Level II trauma center environments is highly desirable.
