Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting, ensuring dignity and respect at all times
- Monitor patients’ health by observing vital signs, medication administration, and overall condition, reporting any concerns promptly to nursing staff
- Support residents with mobility using equipment such as Hoyer lifts and manual handling techniques to promote safety and independence
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Maintain a clean and safe environment through regular cleaning duties, laundry assistance, and adherence to infection control protocols
- Follow care plans meticulously, documenting observations, interventions, and resident progress in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering a positive atmosphere that enhances residents’ quality of life
Requirements
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), and working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting, manual handling, and assisting with mobility aids like Hoyer lifts
- Certification in CPR and First Aid is required; additional certifications such as HIPAA training or medication administration are advantageous
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members, residents, and families
- Demonstrated compassion for seniors or individuals with disabilities; patience and adaptability are essential for success in this role
- Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
