Better Day Adult Day Program is seeking a warm, organized, and experienced cook to join our team. If you enjoy preparing nutritious, home-cooked meals and would like to work in a welcoming, home-like environment while making a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults living with dementia, we’d love to meet you.
Better Day is a small nonprofit adult day program serving up to 14 guests each day. Our meals are an important part of creating community, comfort, and connection. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys cooking from scratch, working independently, and interacting with people throughout the day.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 10:00 AM – 2:30 PM
- No evenings, weekends, or major holidays
Compensation & Benefits
- $20.00 per hour

Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Program Director to develop a monthly lunch menu.
- Maintain weekly food inventory.
- Prepare shopping lists and purchase groceries at local supermarkets.
- Prepare fresh, nutritious meals for up to 20 people in our open kitchen, located within the day program.
- Serve lunch alongside our care partners.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary kitchen and dining area.
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards.
- Assist with special meals and celebrations as needed.
Qualifications
- Experience preparing meals for groups of up to 20 people.
- ServSafe Certification and Allergy Awareness Training (preferred). Better Day will sponsor certification for the right candidate if needed.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and online ordering.
- Valid, unencumbered Massachusetts driver’s license with reliable transportation.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry supplies weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
- Knowledge and skills necessary to provide services appropriate to older adults, including individuals living with dementia.
