About the Role
Scobis Millwork + Design builds custom wood doors and architectural millwork for luxury residential projects. We work with architects, designers, builders (ADB), and direct homeowners on high-end custom work across the St. Louis metro and Midwest.
This is a sales role for someone with construction knowledge and ADB relationships. You'll manage warm leads from our SDR team, build relationships in the design and builder community, and close projects ranging from individual home installations ($25K to $50K) to large ADB specifications ($300K to $400K+).
You need to understand how millwork specifications work, how to read architectural drawings, and how to estimate accurately. If you have pure sales capability but no construction background, this won't fit.
What You'll Do
Sales execution (majority of your time):
- Manage 10 to 20 active opportunities simultaneously
- Work warm leads generated by the SDR team (architects, designers, builders, homeowners)
- Conduct showroom presentations and field meetings with architects, designers, and builders
- Qualify projects, scope requirements, and prepare accurate estimates
- Close deals ranging from single-home installations ($25K-$50K) to large ADB specification projects ($300K-$400K+)
- Maintain active CRM pipeline in HubSpot and report on forecasts
- Coordinate with Project Manager for handoff after sale
Relationship building:
- Develop long-term relationships with architects, designers, and custom builders
- Represent Scobis at trade shows, industry events, and ADB networking functions
- Build your book of business within the St. Louis and Midwest design community
- Collaborate with VP of Business Development on territory strategy and account planning
Technical execution:
- Read and interpret architectural drawings and millwork specifications
- Estimate material, labor, and project costs accurately
- Understand door construction, joinery methods, hardware requirements, and finishing specs
- Ask clarifying questions rather than make assumptions about scope or specifications
- Communicate technical requirements to production team after sale
What You Need
Required:
- 5+ years in millwork, architectural products, or custom construction sales
- Construction knowledge: ability to read drawings, understand specifications, and estimate accurately

- Existing relationships with architects, designers, or custom builders in St. Louis or Midwest markets
- Experience with specification selling in the ADB channel
- Proficiency with CRM tools (HubSpot preferred)
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Self-directed work style with consistent follow-up habits
What matters most:
- You understand construction well enough to estimate properly the first time

Why This Role Works for the Right Person
You'll sell custom work to people who care about quality. Architects specify our doors because they know we'll build it right. Designers bring us complex projects because we solve problems. Builders use us because we deliver on time.
This isn't transactional sales. Projects take 30 to 60 days to close. You'll educate architects on specifications, walk designers through material options, and help builders understand lead times and pricing. Your construction knowledge makes you credible.
We provide warm leads. Our SDR team books meetings with architects, designers, and builders in your territory. You focus on qualifying, presenting, and closing rather than cold prospecting.
You'll work from our Maryland Heights facility with access to a showroom, samples, and a production team that builds what you sell. Travel is minimal. Most meetings are local.
If you have ADB relationships in St. Louis, you'll leverage them. If you're building a network, you'll have support. Either way, your book of business grows through relationships, not cold calls.
We work with Sapele, White Oak, Accoya, Mahogany, Walnut, and exotics. Every project is custom. If you like variety and technical problem-solving, this fits.
