Duties
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments and screenings for students, including vital signs and physical examinations
- Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions following strict protocols and HIPAA confidentiality policies
- Manage emergency situations with first aid, CPR, airway management, and acute pain management techniques
- Collaborate with school staff, parents, and healthcare providers to develop individualized health plans for students with disabilities or chronic conditions such as Alzheimer's or dementia care needs
- Maintain accurate medical documentation within Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems like Epic or Athenahealth
- Provide health education to students and staff on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, medication administration, and injury prevention
- Ensure compliance with long-term care regulations and school health policies while supporting students’ physical and emotional well-being
Skills
- Valid LPN license with current state licensure and certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid
- Experience working with children or adolescents in educational or healthcare settings
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner, Epic, or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical records management
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and diagnostic evaluation techniques
- Skilled in patient assessment, specimen collection/processing, catheter care, and tube feeding procedures
- Familiarity with infectious disease control practices and infection prevention protocols in school environments
- Ability to communicate effectively with caregivers, teachers, healthcare providers, and students of diverse backgrounds including those with developmental disabilities or special healthcare needs
