Duties
- Perform comprehensive diagnostics and repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, suspensions, brakes (including air brake systems), and HVAC components on semi trucks
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks including oil changes, tire service, alignment checks, and general tractor trailer inspections to ensure optimal performance
- Utilize schematics and OEM manuals to troubleshoot electrical systems, wiring harnesses, and electronic controls with precision
- Use parts or modify equipment using hand tools, power tools, welding, soldering, and assembly techniques to meet specific repair needs
- Operate heavy machinery safely during repairs or testing procedures while adhering to safety protocols and industry standards
- Document all repairs accurately in service records and communicate effectively with customers regarding maintenance needs or repair progress
- Assist with heavy lifting tasks and perform welding or fabrication work as required to restore equipment functionality
Experience
- Proven mechanic experience working with heavy-duty diesel engines and industrial equipment in a dealership or service environment
- ASE Certification recommended
- Strong knowledge of automotive diagnostics tools, schematics interpretation, and electrical troubleshooting techniques
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and power lifting devices for equipment repair and fabrication tasks
- Experience performing brake repairs, including air brake systems and aligning or calibrating heavy machinery for optimal operation
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics accurately
