Direct Support Staff (DSP) Responsibilities and Duties
The Direct Support Staff is responsible for fostering positive relationships between individuals served and their housemates in an atmosphere of dignity and respect. Ensuring a safe environment for the individual. Performing and assisting in Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s) including assistance with basic personal hygiene and grooming, feeding, and ambulation, medical monitoring, and health care related tasks. Reporting changes in the individual’s condition or family situation to the Main Office. Performing home management functions such as light housekeeping, laundry, bed making, and cleaning. Accompanying individual’s to scheduled appointments. Ability to handle physical aspects of job, including bending, stooping, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, and walking for periods of time. Complete required paperwork, daily log, incident reports, support logs, medication charts, data collections. Supports in the implementation of individual Person Center Plan (PCP). Administer medication. Ability to communicate (verbally and written) with all levels of personnel, internal and external to the company. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be 21 years or older.
- At least two years of college
- At least one year experience in the Healthcare field preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License no DUI’s or DWI’s
- Certified Nursing Assistant License required.
- CPR, First Aid Required
- Medication Management Certificate required.
- Must pass background check.
- Direct Support Professional training (training/certification courses will be offered during orientation)
- Compassionate, initiative, task oriented and good communication skills.

To keep our staff and individuals as safe as possible, we provide mask, gloves, hand sanitizer. VACCINATIONS PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED. Employees not vaccinated against COVID-19 must agree to weekly testing in-house.
