Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Grocery Manager to oversee daily operations within our retail grocery store. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills, exceptional management capabilities, and a comprehensive understanding of retail sales, inventory control, and customer service. This role is pivotal in ensuring the store operates efficiently, maintains high standards of product presentation, and delivers an outstanding shopping experience for our customers. The Grocery Manager will also be responsible for managing staff, optimizing sales performance, and maintaining accurate financial and inventory records.
Duties
- Lead and supervise the retail team to achieve sales targets while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
- Oversee inventory management, including stock ordering, stock rotation, and stock replenishment to minimize waste and maximize sales.
- Manage purchasing decisions by negotiating with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
- Ensure proper store merchandising and product placement to enhance visual appeal and promote high-margin items.
- Conduct employee orientation, training, and development programs to foster a skilled and motivated team.
- Monitor store performance through sales analysis, budgeting, and inventory control to meet operational goals.
- Implement policies for pricing strategies, promotional activities, and merchandising standards.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company policies.
Requirements
- Proven management experience in retail industry sales team management or store management roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency in inventory management systems, POS systems, and basic bookkeeping practices.
- Strong negotiation skills with suppliers and vendors to optimize purchasing costs.
- Excellent communication skills in multiple languages or bilingual abilities are preferred for diverse customer engagement.
- Experience in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and supervising staff effectively.
- Knowledge of retail math principles including pricing strategies, sales calculations, and financial reporting.
- Ability to lead teams with managerial communication skills while fostering a positive work environment.
- Familiarity with operational management tasks such as budgeting, scheduling shifts, and cash handling procedures.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in stock control and administrative processes.
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with experience in training & development initiatives.
- Basic math skills combined with phone etiquette and customer service expertise are essential for success.
