Job Title: Equipment Operator (Asphalt Paving)
Job Description:
J&B Asphalt, a leading asphalt maintenance and paving company, is looking for a skilled and experienced Equipment Operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience operating asphalt pavers and/or skid steers, with a focus on milling and grading. As a key member of our crew, you'll ensure that paving operations run smoothly, efficiently, and safely on job sites.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate paving equipment, including pavers and skid steers, to perform various asphalt paving and milling tasks.
- Perform milling and grading operations using skid steer loaders as required to prepare surfaces for paving.
- Assist with setting up and preparing equipment and materials at the start of each project.
- Ensure proper site grading, placement and compaction of asphalt to achieve high-quality paving results.
- Conduct routine maintenance and checks on equipment to ensure it operates efficiently and safely.
- Work closely with crew members to ensure project completion within scheduled timeframes.
- Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve minor equipment issues as needed.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to keep projects on track.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience operating skid steers, track loaders, screed
- Knowledge of construction safety standards and practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. Class A CDL is a huge Plus
- Ability to work in various weather conditions and physical environments.
- Strong team player with a good work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in the asphalt paving industry.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., OSHA, equipment operation certifications) are a plus.
