As a Tech 3 – Diesel Mechanic, you will keep our fleet running to some of the most exciting new construction projects in Central California. What will your day look like?
- Troubleshoot fault codes, utilizing a troubleshooting tree to make correct diagnostic decisions
- Engine, transmission, suspension and aftertreatment system repair
- ABS system repair
- Replace disk brakes, drum brakes and wheel seals
- Inspect, patch and replace tires
- Perform DOT 90-Day inspections
- Oil and other fluid changes, filter changes
- Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, air and electrical systems
- Complete repairs that may include welding and fabrication
- Perform preventative maintenance on our fleet of mixer trucks, super-tags, transfers, 3-axles and heavy equipment
- Respond to mobile service calls with little to no supervision
- Engage in/lead training and development sessions
- You will work safely to inspect equipment and proactively identify and address unsafe conditions.
- You will operate many types of heavy equipment, including ready-mix trucks, forklifts, front-end loaders, service trucks, sweepers, and water trucks.
- You will service, repair, adjust, and perform tests on the types of trucks and equipment listed above to maximize performance and limit downtime.
- Your work will be done per regulatory requirements and be of the highest quality
- You will be able to fabricate and repair equipment using an oxy/acetylene cutting torch and welder (arc, gas, MIG).
- You will occasionally be required to travel by service truck to Outback's ready-mix plant locations in the Central Valley, including Mariposa, Oakhurst, Friant, and Auberry.
What will you bring to work?
- Current driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Experience servicing and repairing Cummins and PACCAR engines and knowledge of Cummins INSITE and PACCAR Davie 4 diagnostic software is required.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to relate positively with co-workers; Strong work ethic, and the ability to learn new tasks.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Ability to climb a ladder; Heavy Work-Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- High School Diploma and Spanish language skills preferred.
- Must pass DOT physical to include a hearing test and drug/alcohol screen.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment with exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, or extreme noise.
- Ability to perform all job functions, including pushing, pulling, kneeling, squatting, bending, twisting, reaching, and sitting for long periods.
- You will wear protective equipment when necessary to safely perform your job
- Your own tools.

Pay Range:
- A Tech 3 – Journeyman Mechanic can expect to start at $30 hr.
Pay: $32.00 - $42.00 per hour
