The Energy & Outreach Coordinator is responsible for leading statewide outreach, engagement, and implementation of locally-driven solutions that reduce climate pollution emissions, support communities, and advance clean energy and water conservation. This role plays a key part in the co-development and implementation of the Weber State Sustainability Solutions (WSSSI) initiative, working towards delivering on the State Beehive Emissions Reduction Plan deliverables, and reaching the university’s goal to help the region strive for carbon neutrality by 2050.
Reporting to the Sustainability Programs & Engagement Manager, and working closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator, the position will be responsible for planning and implementing community-based programs, education, and outreach throughout Utah—with special emphasis on serving rural and low-income, disadvantaged communities (LIDAC). Outreach and education will include promoting climate-friendly practices, supporting community (e.g., residential, small business, etc.) energy upgrades, coordinating workshops and building collaborative partnerships with municipalities, public, private, and nonprofit organizations.
The position is highly collaborative and mission-driven position focused on sustainability education, implementation and public outreach. This position is a yearly-contract position, contingent on the continuation of the current multi-year grant funding and may require occasional evening or weekend hours for events or community engagement. Travel within the state of Utah is required.
