We’re hiring a full-time Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in the greater Richmond region. This position is responsible for operating and maintaining a variety of heavy construction equipment to support site preparation, excavation, grading, and other site development tasks. The Heavy Equipment Operator plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely completion of projects while supporting the crew in a fast-paced construction environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment, including bulldozers, excavators, backhoes, skid steers, graders, and loaders, for site preparation, excavation, grading, trenching, and other site development tasks.
- Follow project plans, models, and specifications to complete work according to project requirements.
- Perform pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance, including fueling, lubrication, and cleaning of equipment.
- Adhere to all safety protocols, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and ensure safe operation of machinery.
- Assist with general labor tasks as needed, including clearing debris, setting up materials, and supporting other crew members.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, field teams, and project management to report issues, progress, and equipment needs.
Qualifications
- Hands-on experience operating heavy construction equipment in a construction or site development environment.
- Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliability.
- Ability to work in dynamic, fast-paced construction environments and manage multiple tasks on-site.
- Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Physical capability to perform demanding construction work in various weather and field conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple types of heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, skid steers, backhoes).
- Prior experience with grading, excavation, or site development projects.
