Key Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, skid steers, articulated haul trucks, and other site development equipment.
- Perform grading, excavation, trenching, backfilling, utility installation support, site preparation, and material handling activities.
- Read and work from grade stakes, site plans, GPS models, and project specifications.
- Conduct daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns.
- Work closely with Foremen, Supervisors, Utility Crews, and Project Managers to maintain production goals and project schedules.
- Maintain safe operating practices while working around personnel, utilities, traffic, and active construction operations.
- Assist with general site activities as needed to support project success.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment in site development, utility construction, earthwork, grading, or heavy civil construction.
- Strong understanding of safe excavation, grading, and site development practices.
- Ability to operate equipment smoothly, safely, and productively in varying jobsite conditions.
- Experience working around underground utilities, trenching operations, and active construction crews preferred.
- Dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Physical capability to perform demanding construction work in various weather and field conditions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with multiple types of heavy equipment (bulldozers, excavators, loaders, graders, skid steers, backhoes).
- Prior experience with grading, excavation, or site development projects.
