The Electrician position is a part of the Department of Public Works (DPW). DPW provides direct services to the City of Racine residents by maintaining various pieces of infrastructure around the City. The Electricians are very important to the City of Racine. They perform installation, repair and troubleshooting of electrical control systems and equipment all around the City of Racine including, but not limited to; maintaining street lights and signalized intersections.
Position Purpose:
Performs installation, repair, and troubleshooting of electrical control systems and equipment, and conducts work within the City’s core buildings, including City Hall, the Safety Building, the City Hall Annex, and Memorial Hall.
Physical Demands of the Position:

Physical ability to maneuver and install traffic signal and streetlight poles using a crane.

Standing, kneeling, walking, sitting and stooping.

Kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing and bending/twisting.

Reaching, feeling, talking and hearing.

Lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 50 pounds.
Equipment Used:

Aerial truck, service truck, dump truck, fork lift, cranes, electrician hand tools, drills, cutting tools, large hand tools used in dismantling and reconstructing traffic signals and streetlights, computers and associated testing equipment related to the electronic field.
