Start your management career the right way.
We're DH Burger (Double H Burger Company)—a family-owned Whataburger franchisee. Our mission is simple: BE the standard. That means following the playbook to the letter and executing it better than anyone else.
We run a tight ship. Whataburger's brand standards and our internal procedures are the foundation, and we'll teach you exactly how to execute them. As a Manager in Training, you'll learn those systems from the inside out, then put them to work as an Assistant Manager.
If you want a real shot at running a restaurant—not in five years, but as fast as you can earn it—this is where you start.
What you'll earn
- $15.00/hour during training, $16.00/hour after you complete it
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance
- 401(k) to build for the long haul
- Free meal during every shift
- ½-price meals anytime for you and your immediate family (spouse and children who live with you, must be present with you to order)
- Paid Learn2Serve certification—we cover it, you keep it
- 8–10 weeks of paid, structured training
What you'll actually do
You'll start by learning every station shift by shift—not from a textbook. Once you're out of training, you'll step into Assistant Manager duties and own a real piece of the operation.
A typical week looks like:
- Working alongside your team, not from behind a desk. We develop managers who lead from the line, the grill, and the dining room.
- Running a spotless, food-safe building. NSF standards are top priority here. Cleanliness and food safety come first, every shift, every day.
- Learning every station—grill, fryers, board, drive-thru, dining room—until you can run them in your sleep.
- Owning the schedule. Reviewing the weekly forecast with your GM, handling time-off requests, and building a schedule that hits labor targets—submitted by Wednesday for GM approval.
- Driving guest experience. Posting weekly SMG reports, working with Service Ambassadors on areas to improve, and prepping for bi-weekly meetings.
- Executing promotions. Setting up quarterly LSM, prepping new POP when it arrives, completing menu price changes, and coordinating with the WOW committee on events.
- Building the next bench. Spotting talent on your floor, helping train new team members, and developing future leaders—including your own replacement.
- Handling the unexpected. Resolving guest complaints, addressing team concerns, and making the right call under pressure (and asking for help when you're unsure).
- Walking the dining room during rushes, doing table touches, and being present—our company promise to every guest who walks in.
What we need from you
- Open availability—schedule varies week to week (mornings, nights, weekends, holidays as needed)
- A real Guest-First mindset: you'd rather be on the floor than hiding in the office
- Coachable—you're hungry to learn the right way to do things
- Steady under pressure—you keep your cool during a rush
- Comfortable with about 50 hours a week (we're upfront about that)
- Valid driver's license and a clean MVR (we run one)
- Willing to pass a background check (we run one)
Restaurant experience is a plus, but not required. We'll train the right person.
Why DH Burger and not the other guys
- Family-owned, not corporate. Our ownership team is hands-on and accessible—you'll know the people who sign your check, and they'll know you.
- We're growing. New stores mean new leadership openings—Assistant Manager, GM, Multi-Unit GM, Multi-Unit Supervisor, Training GM. Your next role is already on our org chart.
- We pay for your growth. Learn2Serve, ongoing training, real coaching from people who've actually run the line.
- Whataburger brand strength. You're not building traffic from scratch. You're learning to protect and grow a brand customers already drive across town for.
