Position: Part Time Case Manager - 30 hours a week
FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Director of Programs and Operations
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director of Programs & Operations, the Case Manager provides support services for Journey Out clients who are victims of human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation. The Case Manager will work at Journey Out Drop-In Centers, and occasionally in the field. Position is based out of our South Los Angeles location at 1704 West Manchester Ave. in Los Angeles.
Responsibilities:
Direct Client Services
· Provide holistic and wrap around case management services to JO clients
· Facilitate groups for clients according to the JO curriculum.
· Provide crisis response and support for victims of trafficking
· Assist clients with enrollment into educational/vocational programs
· Phone line support; answering direct line and returning messages
· Scheduling client appointments for Case Management and Drop-In Center visits
· Client follow up to ensure case plan developed by client and Case Manager is in process
· Working with client to achieve goals set during case management sessions
· Warm handoff referrals and linkage to community resources
· Coordinate, facilitate, and otherwise assist clients with needed support, basic necessities and transportation as needed
· Advocate for clients within the criminal justice system, schools, the legal system, social service and community agencies and other helping professionals
· Foster problem-solving, conflict resolution and non-violent interactive skills
Hotline and Information Calls
· Provides information about Journey Out services and other appropriate referrals to callers.
· Provides triage and crisis response, intervention, and counseling via telephone and in-person.
· Provides danger assessment and safety planning for crisis line callers.
· Identifies and reports cases of suspected child, elder and dependent abuse.
· Conducts screenings of clients requesting emergency services.
· Provides assistance into shelters, emergency hotel stays, and/or transportation to safe location
· Enters all call data into database in a timely manner.
Other Responsibilities
· Attend and participate in Journey Out case conference meetings and supervision, other external meetings as assigned
· Maintain accurate timesheets and other work-related documents
· Input accurate and complete client data and required documentation into agency database in accordance with Victims of Crime reporting requirements
· Develop ongoing referral list of agencies providing appropriate services within the community
· Represent the agency in community speaking engagements and networking opportunities, as assigned
· Occasional “on-call” coverage during non-business hours to answer crisis calls and provide crisis intervention, needs assessments, safety planning, education, and referrals to victims of human trafficking.
· Other job duties as assigned
ADA Job Characteristics:
Work environment is primarily in an office setting. Local travel (driving) may be required to attend off-site meetings, as needed. Lift and carry 25 lbs., extend both arms above the head and/or reach below the waist, stoop, squat, crawl, bend the back or open lower-level filing drawers, or to retrieve stored items, climb a ladder or stairs, or use an elevator. Sit frequently and/or stand when filing, using copier, etc. Use fine manipulation (hands and wrist) to operate a keyboard, take notes; utilize desk calculator, file and copy documents. Corrected vision to normal range. Speak in normal vocal tone and range, and communicate clearly and concisely to others. Apply normal reasoning and detail as required in the accomplishment of job duties.
Qualifications:
· BA/BS preferred plus 2 years’ experience or equivalent experience required
· Experience working with clients who have experienced human trafficking, domestic violence or sexual assault preferred
· Ability to establish rapport and trust with individuals in crisis
· Direct social service experience preferred
· Ability to work both independently and as a team member
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Bilingual/bicultural individual preferred
· Provide copy of valid California driver license, have reliable transportation, and submit current proof of vehicle insurance
· Satisfactory results from DOJ background check (post-employment offer requirement)
Expectations: The candidate is expected to complete a 40 hour Human Trafficking Case Manager/Advocate course; additionally: Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) 101/102, within their first 12 months in the position.

Employee must have a valid California driver’s license.
Satisfactory reference and background investigation checks, including Live Scan.
