The City of Jefferson is currently accepting applications for a Wastewater Treatment Plant Manager for our Public Works- Waterwater Treatment plant. This position oversees both Wastewater Treatment plants and related facilities and processes including all pump stations. Performs essential administrative tasks, supervises sludge land application, plans and supervises work of subordinates, conducts regular inspections of the plant, pump stations and all other facilities. Administers the pretreatment program and maintains contact with all industries, regulators and the general public.
Performs various administrative duties, including record keeping, filing reports, assisting with development of division budget and requisitioning equipment and supplies.
Supervises and directs sludge land application program, including maintaining good relations with land owners and keeping records of all sludge applied to each parcel of land.
Plans, assigns, schedules and supervises work of personnel; counsels and trains subordinates; conducts performance evaluations; and converses daily with subordinate supervisors.
Conducts inspection of equipment and facilities; supervises and directs collection of effluent and wastewater samples for testing; and confers with operating personnel.
Maintains contacts with the public, including taking phone calls and meeting with visitors, vendors and consultants.
Maintains an effective safety program and administers and approved pretreatment program.
An accredited Bachelor's degree is desired and eight to ten years' experience in wastewater treatment including five years' supervisory experience.
Must have a valid Missouri Driver's License and a Missouri Class A Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator's License. Ability to use a computer and various software.
Physical: Ability to sit for prolonged periods; respond to emergencies at lift stations or treatment facilities 24-hours a day. Ability to operate various types of equipment; perform duties of other employees in their absence; withstand extreme weather conditions; and concentrate and work safely in hazardous conditions.
Mental: Ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing; remain productive in emergency situations; read and understand technical papers, blueprints, lab testing of both City wastewater and outside wastewater, and implement complicated regulations; work and remain in contact with design engineering firms, local industrial customers, state and federal regulators, suppliers, and fellow wastewater operators around the state; prioritize duties and purchasing needs; and train subordinates.
Typical hours worked are Monday through Friday 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
