Kitsap Tennis & Athletic Center (KTAC) is seeking a dependable, hardworking Janitorial / Facility Maintenance team member to help keep our facility clean, safe, welcoming, and well maintained.
As a nonprofit community athletic center serving members and guests of all ages, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, notices what needs attention, and can confidently handle both routine cleaning and general facility maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities
Janitorial & Cleaning
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and common areas
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and maintain floors throughout the facility
- Empty trash and recycling and replace liners
- Clean windows, mirrors, doors, counters, and other surfaces
- Restock paper products, soap, and other supplies
- Clean and maintain fitness, pool, tennis, lobby, and staff areas as assigned
- Perform periodic deep‑cleaning projects
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and professional environment that supports a consistent “show‑time ready” experience for members and guests
Facility Maintenance
- Perform basic repairs and general facility maintenance
- Identify maintenance or safety concerns and report larger issues to management
- Replace light bulbs, filters, and other routine facility items
- Assist with minor plumbing, painting, patching, and repair projects
- Maintain equipment, storage areas, and maintenance supplies
- Assist with seasonal and outdoor maintenance projects
- Set up and take down equipment, tables, chairs, and other items for programs and special events
- Respond promptly to spills, cleaning needs, and facility issues
- Assist with basic pool system maintenance as assigned, including saltwater chlorination equipment, water chemistry checks, and routine system care (Is this realistic for this position?)
Qualifications
- Previous janitorial, custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safe cleaning practices
- General maintenance and basic repair skills preferred
- Dependable, self‑motivated, and able to work independently
- Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
- Good communication and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and recognize maintenance needs
- Comfortable working around members, guests, and staff in an active facility
- Ability to safely lift, carry, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks associated with cleaning and facility maintenance
- Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings or weekends
- Maintain consistent, timely, and effective communication with supervisors and team members
- Previous janitorial, custodial, maintenance, or facilities experience preferred
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products, equipment, and safe cleaning practices

Preferred Certifications (Not Required; Must Be Willing to Obtain After Hire)
These certifications strengthen safety, readiness, and professionalism in a facility environment:
- OSHA 10-Hour General Industry
- First Aid / CPR / AED (American Red Cross or AHA)
- Bloodborne Pathogens Certification
- Hazard Communication (HazCom)
- ISSA CMI Custodial Technician Certification (Basic or Advanced)
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) includes training on maintaining commercial saltwater pool systems, including chemistry, salt cell care, and chlorination equipment
