Position Overview
As an Industrial Hydraulic Designer, you will be at the heart of our growth. In this role, you won't just be sitting behind a desk—you will work directly with major manufacturers to research, specify, and implement hydraulic design changes and parts conversions. A heavy focus of this position is system documentation, mathematical design justification, and target achievement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- System Design & Analysis: Research, specify, and implement hydraulic design changes to achieve customer-specified improvements.
- Field Engineering & Surveys: Conduct on-site field surveys to document system functions and provide hands-on technical expertise at large manufacturing sites.
- Client Collaboration: Meet with customer maintenance, production, and engineering teams to diagnose root issues and deliver high-impact, long-term solutions.
- Project & Financial Ownership: Generate accurate customer quotations, meet profitability goals, and manage tight deadlines within small scheduling windows.
- Mutual Support & Knowledge Sharing: Partner closely with field service teams and actively help disseminate hydraulic knowledge to your coworkers.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education & Experience:
- Associate degree in Fluid Power, an IFPS Hydraulic Specialist Certification, or a Mechanical Engineering degree, or comparable experience is required
- 3+ years of hands-on hydraulic experience.
- 5+ years of industrial planning or project management experience.
- Familiarity with industrial maintenance activities.
- Technical & Math Aptitude: Strong mathematical skills. This is a math-oriented field; all design choices must be mathematically justified using basic algebra.

- Physical & Licensing Requirements: Valid driver’s license required. Ability to stand for extended periods and occasionally lift up to 70 lbs.
- Ability to work hours required to complete jobs at a high level, often at or above 45 hours a week
Preferred Backgrounds
Ideal candidates will have previous experience working as a Fluid Power Specialist, Fluid Power Designer, Fluid Power Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer.

Pay: $115,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
