Somewhere Over the Spectrum is a holistic Autism Center with 2 locations in Berlin, CT with a very unique and individualized approach to Autism Services. We are looking to add a full time salaried Pediatric Occupational Therapist to our team that is just as unique and holistic as our approach. We take a neurodivergent affirmative approach to supporting our children here and finding the best fit for our company is of the utmost importance, so we do want to take time to build a relationship and ensure that our intentions and approach align.
Somewhere Over the Spectrum offers a variety of different programs, our main program being our Center-Based Early Childhood Autism Program for children ages 16 months to 6 years of age, in which children are immersed in a naturalistic environment that mirrors that which they would encounter in a typical preschool or Kindergarten setting. Children participate alongside their peers in circle time and exploratory centers and more in their daily schedule, with their ABA Therapist by their side. We have enclosed outdoor areas filled with sensory materials and imaginative play equipment, as well as indoor movement areas to support our children’s sensory and developmental needs.
This position will be center-based within our two centers here in Berlin. The schedule will be Monday-Friday from 8:00-4:00. This position will allow the interested candidate a wonderful platform for growth and evolution of their skills and experience in working with pediatric clients.
Our entire team and center embraces and builds on the fundamental and clinical principles of ABA, with naturalistic and child-led learning methods to foster success and development for our children and families.
We are seeking one full-time salaried Occupational Therapist to join our team.
Our ideal candidate is someone who:
- Thinks outside of the box and is creative in their ideas and open to feedback and support.
- Possesses and/or desires to possess a great understanding of sensory processing and autism spectrum disorder and to learn our approach.
- Is looking to grow and learn more about Autism from a holistic framework. This individual will be supervised and supported by our team of Directors.
- Is relentless and passionate in supporting the children and families on their caseload that work with our center.
- Respectfully supports the client’s needs within the program and understands the structure of sharing information.
- Is a great communicator and embodies the sentiment that their job is to - empower and educate their families and encourage all those around them.
- Has the ability to empathize with parents and guardians as to their journey and challenges or triumphs they may be facing.
- Respects and embodies the holistic and naturalistic approach that is Somewhere Over the Spectrum.
