Cavossa Disposal Corporation is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious Full-Time Class A Driver to join our growing team. This position is primarily responsible for transporting materials from our Transfer Station to various disposal facilities, recycling centers, and end-use sites throughout Massachusetts.
Drivers can expect an early start time, typically between 5:00 AM and 6:00 AM, depending on the location of the first destination and daily operational needs. We are looking for an individual who is comfortable working independently, takes pride in operating equipment safely, and is willing to support other areas of the operation when driving responsibilities allow.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate tractor trailers to transport waste, recyclables, and other materials from the Transfer Station to designated end sites.
- Operate and drive an 8-speed manual transmission truck.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report any maintenance concerns promptly.
- Ensure all loads are properly secured and transported in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate logs, tickets, and other required documentation.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, scale operators, and supervisors regarding schedules, delays, and operational updates.
- Assist with general yard or facility duties when transportation needs are complete.
- Maintain a clean and professional appearance of assigned equipment.
Requirements
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) required.
- No automatic transmission restriction on CDL; must be able to operate a manual transmission (8-speed).
- Current USDOT Medical Card required.
- Minimum of 2 years of Class A commercial driving experience preferred.
- Clean driving record and commitment to safe driving practices.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work independently.
- Availability to work full-time with an early morning start schedule and occasional Saturdays as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience hauling waste, recyclables, aggregates, or construction materials.
- Familiarity with disposal facilities and transfer station operations.
- Knowledge of regional routes throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
Working Conditions
- Primarily field-based with daily travel between the Transfer Station and disposal or processing facilities.
- Exposure to dust, dirt, noise, and changing weather conditions.
- Requires climbing in and out of equipment, walking uneven terrain, and performing routine vehicle inspections.
Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
