Job Title: Service Advisor

Summary: Mediates between customers and the Service Department on requested repair, warranty and preventative maintenance service orders by performing the following duties.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
1. Greets customers as they enter the dealership for service repairs, and obtains necessary information for vehicle maintenance.*
2. Prepares and processes service orders in a prompt manner to minimize customer inconvenience and maximize the dealership's business image with the customer.*
3. Consults with Technicians and Service Manager regarding required repairs and expected expense and labor time.*
4. Communicates the nature of service needed and the cost of parts of labor to customers in a clear manner, and obtains proper customer authorization for initiation of repairs.*
5. Negotiates and prepares customer payments prior to completion of service work, and submits payments to the Cashier.*
6. Coordinates timely completion of repairs with Service Department and arranges loaner/rental vehicles for customers to enhance the dealership's image.*
7. Recommends completion of additional needed repairs as indicated by the Service Technician.*
8. Closes out customer repair orders in accordance with approved procedures.*
9. Arranges service appointments with customers via telephone and in person.*
10. Advises Sales Department of prospects for new and used vehicles.*
11. Maintains a neat and orderly work area at all times.*
12. Reviews and codes repair orders with technician codes for compensation, and maintains time sheets according to procedures.*
13. Maintains training as required by factory or service management.
14. Responsible for checking in/out of rental cars. Inspect for damage, notate on form and advise management.
15. Complete customer phone follow up on a daily basis to ensure customer satisfaction.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and less than one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Reynolds & Reynolds or ADP software.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and risk of electrical shock.
