Machine Operator
Job Summary
The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining specialized production equipment used in precision manufacturing. This role supports daily production activities by ensuring machines run efficiently, parts meet quality standards, and documentation is accurately maintained. The Machine Operator works closely with engineers and production staff to troubleshoot issues, improve processes, and uphold a safe and organized work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up machines (calibration, cleaning, etc.) to start production cycles.
- Operate a variety of engineering machinery such as die bonders, wire bonders, plasma cleaners, optical alignment systems, and functional test sets.
- Monitor machine operations and adjust settings for optimal performance.
- Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate production logs and documentation.
- Follow safety guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with engineers and production staff to improve processes and resolve technical issues.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years of experience as a machine operator or in a similar manufacturing or engineering role.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, schematics, and engineering drawings.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to perform basic machine setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance.
- Solid understanding of safety procedures and standard operating practices.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work well with team members.
- Ability to maintain accurate production logs and documentation.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and production reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating engineering machinery such as die bonders, wire bonders, plasma cleaners, optical alignment systems, or functional test equipment.
- Experience working with optical equipment or precision assembly processes.
- Familiarity with troubleshooting machine issues to minimize downtime.
- Experience collaborating with engineers or technical staff to improve processes.
- Prior experience in a cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environment.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to suit up and enter a clean room environment for short periods of time, following gowning and cleanliness procedures.
Work Environment
- Manufacturing, cleanroom, and laboratory settings.
