This leadership role, of TCL Smart Computing Lab, will be responsible for leading the high-level system design of TCL’s cloud-based services and applications. The ideal candidate is an experienced team leader or system architect of cloud-based products, with software/system experiences in scaling based web solutions and design of distributed, high availability server-based network computing infrastructure. The architect works closely with various vendors, development partners, and the manufacturing partner to facilitate timely, reliable, cost-optimized, feature complete high-level system design. The architect applies a diverse software engineering and systems architecture background to work closely with the engineering team leaders and product/program managers to architect, evaluate, coordinate, and directly contribute to TCL’s advanced products. On the other hand, the architect works with potential technology partners to evaluate new technologies for fitness into our product line, and invent new concepts and ideas into the products. The architect must be multi-disciplined and have good communication skills and trained documentation capabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, documentation and communication of high-level system/software design architecture
- Lead the design or licensing of key algorithms/systems in cloud-based web solutions
- Work closely with the engineering team and product/program managers to conceptualize new products in the roadmap
- Work closely with vendors, partners and design services firms
- Coordinate and/or directly contribute to system implementation and optimization
- Perform detailed technical analyses and trend/challenge studies
- Constantly research the technical alternatives and develop strategies to succeed
- Constantly evaluate new technologies, ideas, concepts, and designs
Qualification:
- Strong background in developing massively distributed software solutions deployed throughout the cloud
- Technical expert in cloud computing, web services and networking architecture
- Experiences in SaaS, highly scalable data structure and algorithms
- Familiar with several IaaS and PaaS technoogies (EC2, Azure, VCD, Heroku, OpenStack, and so on)
- Sensitive to new technology ideas
- Enthusiastic and engaging team player and professional/polished communicator
Requirements:
- MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering major preferred
- Track record of creating successful products or web services
- Experience in platform creation, data structure and web architecture and SaaS apps
- Strong Java, Python, RoR, MySQL, Javascript t & object-oriented programming
- Experience in Android platform and/or TV technology preferred
- Excellent leadership, communication and teamwork skills
- Bilingual (English and Chinese) capability is preferred
