The Town of Hamilton Water Utility is seeking a motivated, dependable individual to join our team as a Utility Laborer / Operator. This position assists with the operation, maintenance, and repair of the Town’s water treatment and distribution system while providing excellent service to our customers.
Essential Duties
· Operate, maintain, and repair water distribution and treatment equipment.
· Install, repair, and maintain water mains, valves, hydrants, and service lines.
· Read water meters and perform utility inspections.
· Operate trucks, equipment, and hand tools safely.
· Respond to water system emergencies, leaks, and service calls.
· Perform preventative maintenance and maintain accurate records.
· Assist other departments when necessary.
· Provide courteous and professional customer service.
Qualifications
· Valid driver’s license required.
· Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely operate tools and equipment.
· Basic computer, plumbing, and electrical knowledge are preferred.
· Ability to obtain required State certifications as assigned.
· Must be dependable, safety-conscious, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
This position requires frequent lifting, bending, climbing, walking, and working outdoors in all weather conditions. Candidates must be able to perform physically demanding labor and respond to emergency situations, including after-hours work when necessary.
