Survey Supervisor- Asheville, NC
Mattern & Craig, an employee-owned Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm, is seeking an experienced licensed Survey Supervisor for our Asheville, NC office.
Essential duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Manages day to day surveying operations and workload, including scheduling both field & office work and assuring that all projects are being completed on time and on budget.
- Resolves project-related concerns or problems and consults with the Principal in Charge, other Survey Managers, or Survey Supervisor when there are scheduling issues.
- Assists in developing and maintaining project budgets and schedules, specific to surveying projects and phases. Assists in maintaining the technical and financial performance of the survey team’s budgets.
- Assists with the preparation of fee proposals and Statements of Qualifications in pursuit of new or potential work.
- Thoroughly understands the scope of the project. If the scope is not made clear by the Principal in Charge, Project Manager, or other staff, discuss with the local project manager to clarify the proper scope and approach to properly execute the survey.
- Always communicates with the Principal in Charge of Surveying, other survey managers within the firm, or other office personnel collaborating with them.
- Reviews final survey proposals and products prior to delivery to design team and/or the client.
Qualifications:
Licensed as a Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) in the State of North Carolina or the ability to obtain such licensure within 90 days is a requirement.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Surveying or related field from an accredited four-year college or university or an associate’s degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school and 15 years related experience preferred.
A minimum of 10 years of practical field surveying and/or surveying supervision is required.
Experience with surveying practices of the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) or other State DOT is required – NCDOT experience is preferred.
Proficiency in MSOffice applications and technical math; Geometry and Trigonometry are required.
Valid North Carolina driver’s license is required.
Experience with Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) remote sensing technology is preferred.
Experience with unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), or unmanned aircraft system (UAS), commonly known as a drone, to obtain survey data and the related licensure is preferred.
A North Carolina (NC) Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Commercial Operators Permit is preferred.
