Consumer Loan Specialist
Reports To: Lending Manager
Position Summary
The Consumer Loan Specialist assists members throughout the consumer lending process by providing financial solutions that meet their needs while delivering exceptional member service. This position processes consumer loan applications, maintains loan documentation, promotes Credit Union products and services, and ensures compliance with all applicable policies and regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
- Interview members to identify financial needs and recommend appropriate lending solutions.
- Process consumer loan applications, including auto, personal, and Visa loans, through in-person and online channels.
- Open new member accounts and identify opportunities to cross-sell Credit Union products and services.
- Maintain accurate member, loan, and collateral files.
- Process loan payoffs, collateral releases, workout requests, and Skip-a-Pay requests.
- Monitor loan queue and lending voicemail to ensure timely member service.
- Perfect and track vehicle liens and titles.
- Process monthly GAP and Debt Protection remittances.
- Provide notary services as needed.
- Ensure compliance with Credit Union policies and all applicable federal and state regulations.
- Complete required compliance training and maintain the confidentiality of member information.
- Participate in Credit Union community events and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; financial institution or consumer lending experience preferred.
- Strong customer service, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Ability to analyze information, prioritize multiple tasks, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office and financial institution software.
- Demonstrates professionalism, teamwork, integrity, and a commitment to providing exceptional member service.
- Supports the Credit Union's mission, values, and culture while maintaining a willingness to learn and adapt to changing business needs.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and use a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a professional office environment with regular interaction with members, employees, and community partners.
Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour
