About the Job
Stella's Kitchen & Bakery is hiring Prep / Line Cooks who want to be done by 4pm. We're a busy breakfast and lunch spot known for fresh food, friendly service, and a tight, supportive kitchen team.
This is a hybrid Prep + Line Cook role — you'll spend some days as prep and others on the line or split shifts prepping ingredients and part on the line cooking to order during service. Great fit for someone who likes variety, moves fast, and takes pride in a clean station.
What You'll Do
- Prep ingredients — wash, peel, chop, portion, and measure to recipe
- Cook menu items to spec on the line during service (sauté, grill, flat top, fry)
- Hold the line during peak rushes — quick, clean, and consistent
- Make sauces, dressings, and marinades from scratch
- Set up and break down workstations
- Follow standardized recipes for portion and quality consistency
- Rotate stock (FIFO) and label/store food per health code
- Keep your station, equipment, and walk-ins clean and organized
- Communicate clearly with the kitchen team and expo
- Help train new cooks as you grow
- Support bakery prep when needed
- Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
What We're Looking For
- 1+ year of restaurant kitchen experience (prep, line, or both) preferred — will train the right candidate.
- Basic cooking skills and comfort with a knife
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Able to read and follow recipes with minimal direction
- Reliable transportation and consistent attendance — we run on the team showing up
- Calm under pressure during a rush
- Team-first attitude
Physical Requirements
- Comfortable standing for long periods
- Must be comfortable in warmer enviroments
- Must be able to be on feet for longer periods of time.
- Able to bend, twist, kneel, and reach throughout the shift
- Able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable in a warm kitchen environment
- Able to start early mornings (Prep shifts begin as early as 4 AM)
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
