Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Veterinary Technician/Assistant to join our compassionate veterinary team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in animal care, veterinary procedures, and clinical support, with a passion for providing exceptional pet healthcare. In this role, you will assist veterinarians in delivering high-quality medical services, ensuring the well-being of a diverse range of animals, and supporting the overall efficiency of the practice. Responsibilities
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile environment.
- Perform animal restraint and handling with confidence to ensure safety for both animals and staff.
- Conduct laboratory work including blood draws, sample collection, and processing for diagnostic testing.
- Operate medical equipment such as X-ray machines, radiology diagnostics tools, and anesthesia monitoring devices accurately and safely.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary instructions while monitoring animal responses.
- Maintain detailed records using veterinary software for patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results.
- Facilitate emergency medicine protocols by providing critical care support during urgent situations.
- Ensure aseptic techniques are followed during surgical procedures and sample handling to prevent infections.
- Be a team player in all cleaning & maintenance responsibilities.
Experience
- Hands-on experience with veterinary surgical assistance and radiology diagnostics will be advantageous.
- Proficiency in veterinary software systems for record keeping and appointment scheduling is a plus but not required, will train.
- Understanding of animal physiology, anatomy, and veterinary terminology to support clinical tasks a plus.
- Ability to handle dogs confidently through training or experience in dog handling is important for safe restraint and pet care activities.
